Quality leads for quality solar installers.
We find solar-ready homes. You handle the quoting and installation.
No lock‑in contracts. Flexible volumes.
How it works
Our job is simple to describe and hard to do well. We find Kiwi homeowners ready to buy quality solar. We educate and qualify them properly, then refer them to installers who’ll do right by them.
They come to us
Kiwis come to Solar Scout through referrals, search, quality paid advertisement campaigns, and word of mouth. They use our 3D solar calculator, read our guides, compare solar equipment and work out what a fair price is. By the time they’re ready for quotes, they’ve done their research.
They answer our questions
21-25, covering system size requirements, budget, roof overview, method of paying, timeframe, and the rest. Non-serious buyers don’t make it through, which is how we like it.
We match up to three installers
Based on their requirements, our referral engine finds a max of three installers in the customer’s location. If you’ve reached your monthly cap, we route the lead to the next installer with lead cap remaining.
We refer you
We email the homeowner the installers they’re matched with, including you, with your logo, phone number and credentials. They’re expecting your call.
You get the full lead
All 21‑25 answers, and if obtained, power bills and photos of the switchboard, roof and meter box, straight into your CRM or inbox. It counts toward your invoice once it reaches you. If it doesn’t meet our criteria, reject it within 14 days and we won’t charge you for it.
You quote and win the job
The rest is on you. We take no commission on sales. What you sell is between you and the customer.
We check in afterwards
We message the homeowner to check whether their installers have been in touch, and later on whether they went ahead with solar.
Serious buyers. Suitable homes.
Pre-sales done upfront, and honest where solar doesn’t stack up. You pick up the phone to quote.
We’ve already asked what you want to know. Pick a card.
What sets us apart
You get more than a phone number. Every lead is a homeowner with a solar-suitable house who asked us to refer them to an installer for a quote.
- Only pay for real leads
Reject a lead that doesn’t meet our criteria and you don’t pay for it.
- They buy on quality, not price
Our users know what a good system costs, so you can win the job without being the cheapest.
- They come to us
We don’t incentivise enquiries or run call centres. Users come to us for independent advice, so they’re ready for a real conversation when you call.
Your questions answered.
$40 excl GST per qualified homeowner lead we send you. We charge a small referral fee, not a commission, so you keep the margin to quote the right system, not the cheapest. If a lead doesn’t meet our criteria, reject it within 14 days and we won’t charge you for it.
You set a monthly cap, from five to fifty a month, and we fill it. If your calendar fills up, email us and we’ll pause your leads the same day.
Yes, with up to two other vetted installers in the homeowner’s region, so three at most. EECA and NZ banks both advise homeowners to compare quotes. The reality is, if a homeowner isn’t even comparing quotes yet, they’re likely not serious.
You can reject a lead if it doesn’t meet certain criteria, such as an uncontactable homeowner, no genuine interest in purchasing within 12 months, an unsuitable home, a duplicate enquiry, or a non-homeowner. Reject it within 14 days with the reason and we won’t charge you for it.
In real time, by email or straight into your CRM, such as Pipedrive, or job management software like SimPRO or Fergus. Our team sets it up with you, usually in a few hours.
Yes. Tell us the areas you service and we only send you homeowners inside them. If your areas change, email us and we’ll update your list.
Installers who met the same standards as you before joining. Every one installs quality hardware from reputable manufacturers, gives full quotes with yield and payback, and has a record of satisfied customers. No pop-up shop installers or fly‑by‑night operators.
Usually within a week, two weeks at most. We read every application ourselves and conduct our checks.
We read your application and check it against our standards, usually within a week. If you’ve been approved, we can discuss your service territory and monthly cap.
Once a month. Your invoice on the 13th covers the leads we sent you since the last one, less any you rejected.
