Went from paying around $320/month to $45. Thought there was a mistake on the first invoice lol. We got 8kW put on through Solar Scout and the whole thing from doing the quiz to install was maybe 3 weeks? The installer they matched us with was really good. Only regret is not doing it sooner tbh.

Paying $240/month on the loan which is actually less than our old power bill lol. Didn't even know Westpac did a 0% green loan until the Solar Scout report mentioned it. The installer sorted all the Meridian export paperwork too so we didn't have to do anything on that side. Pretty stoked overall, should have the whole thing paid off in about 4 years at this rate.

25 to 30 years is typical. Panels degrade slowly (about 0.5% per year), so a 20-year-old panel still produces around 90% of its original output. Inverters last 10 to 15 years.

A typical 6.6kW system costs between $15,000 and $16,000 fully installed. Solar costs have dropped over 75% in the last 15 years. Most Kiwi homeowners pay it off in 5 to 8 years through power bill savings, and the panels last 25+ years.

Most Kiwis can. Five major banks (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac) offer green loans at 0 to 1% for 1 to 5 years with no setup fees and up to $80,000 covered. The monthly repayment on a typical system is often less than the monthly power bill saving.

It depends on your roof, your usage, and your export rate, but most homeowners save 50 to 80% on their electricity bills. A typical 6.6kW system generates around $2,000 to $3,000 in savings per year.
