Wasn't sure until I saw the report

Honestly wasn't sure solar was worth it until I saw the report. Laid it all out, no BS. Got my 3 quotes and ended up going with a local crew that was priced in the middle of the others, easy as.

$50 a month for power in winter

Found out about the 0% Westpac loan through these guys, didn't even know it was a thing. Super happy with our installer quotes, we ended up going for the battery option and now we're paying only $50 a month for power in winter!

Simple to compare options

I had a great experience using Solar Scout. The team was quick to respond to my questions. The website offers valuable information for anyone interested in solar energy. The content is clear and informative, making it simple to compare options and understand the potential costs and benefits of switching to solar.

Actually can't believe our power bill now

Went from paying around $320/month to $45. Thought there was a mistake on the first invoice lol. We got 8kW put on through Solar Scout and the whole thing from doing the quiz to install was maybe 3 weeks? The installer they matched us with was really good. Only regret is not doing it sooner tbh.

0% through Westpac

Paying $240/month on the loan which is actually less than our old power bill lol. Didn't even know Westpac did a 0% green loan until the Solar Scout report mentioned it. The installer sorted all the Meridian export paperwork too so we didn't have to do anything on that side. Pretty stoked overall, should have the whole thing paid off in about 4 years at this rate.

Report was surprisingly good

We'd already talked to a few installer companies before we found this. Solar Scout's report had way more in it, winter projections and export rates and ROI stuff. The installer Solar Scout provided was great to deal with too.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Enter your address, answer a few quick questions, and we build a personalised solar report from your actual roof. Compare quotes from up to 3 vetted local installers when you're ready.

25 to 30 years. Panels degrade about 0.5% a year, so a 20-year-old panel still makes around 90% of its original output. Inverters last 10 to 15 years and are usually replaced once.

A typical 6.6kW system is $15,000 to $16,000 fully installed. Costs have dropped over 75% in 15 years. Most homeowners pay it off in 5 to 8 years, and the panels last 25+ years.

Most Kiwis can. ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank and Westpac all offer green loans at 0 to 1% for the first few years, up to $80,000 with no setup fees. Repayments are often less than the bill savings.

Most homeowners save 50 to 80% on their power bill. A typical 6.6kW system is worth around $2,000 to $3,000 a year, depending on your roof, usage and export rate.
